Eye Movement Reprocessing & Desensitization

EMDR offers a way for clients to access healing parts of their brain that are not always available through traditional, talk therapy.

EMDR is an 8 stage process, of which the first 3 stages consist of traditional talk therapy.  For more in depth information of what those stages look like please refer to:   https://www.emdr.com/what-is-emdr/

EMDR reprocessing is stage 4 in the therapy; it is what most people refer to when they say they want to receive EMDR.  Until we begin working together I do not know how long it will take for us to get to stage 4.  Not knowing this information can be very frustrating for clients, however it is no fun for the client to move forward too soon and not be ready for the experience.

Traditional talk therapy of learning positive coping skills and decreasing negative coping skills are big parts of the first couple stages of EMDR.  I find my clients that have done that work (whether with me, or another therapist) of identifying triggers, decreasing negative coping and increasing positive coping skills move through to the reprocessing stage (which is what EMDR is known for) much faster.

While utilizing EMDR, I require weekly sessions so I can monitor how you're progressing & to prevent stalling out.

Some clients have reservations about EMDR via telehealth, but I find that my clients are often more relaxed in their home setting vs. an provider's setting and are able to jump into the work quicker in their safe space.

If you feel I might be a good fit for you I would be happy to schedule a consult call to give you more in depth information as to what to expect from EMDR therapy and answer any questions you may have.
